Twin Peaks Inspired "WONDERFUL AND STRANGE Liquid Music Fragrance Trio" by Seattle Perfumer Christi Meshell to Benefit David Lynch Foundation

Posted on May 21, 2017 by Matriarch Blog

House of Matriarch is pleased to announce what Perfumer Christi Meshell is calling one of the "most exciting projects" she has ever released.

SEATTLE, WA:  25 years have passed since Laura Palmer, the troubled coquette who worked at the perfume counter of Horne's Department Store in David Lynch's Twin Peaks, made her impression on the minds and hearts of an entire generation.  Since, the resounding echoes and haunting chords of the soundtrack have kept her memory and the mysteries surrounding her death brewing in the collective consciousness. They also ignited the creative inspiration for a collection of perfumes both "wonderful and strange".

Residing near the Snoqualmie Forest where the series was filmed, our Perfumer has a deep knowing of how the dark woods depicted in the series would smell.  In a video of Angelo Badalamenti, the composer of the famous soundtrack, he recounts the story of how he and David Lynch sat together at his piano to co-compose the soundtrack.  As she followed along, Christi began to imagine the aromas which seemed to accompany the famous question still being asked:  "Who killed Laura Palmer?"

Twin Peaks Inspired Liquid Music Fragrance Trio

KAZIMI: BEST NICHE ROSE PERFUME FOR MEN & WOMEN: 100% Natural Luxury Perfume Review

Posted on September 19, 2016 by Matriarch Blog

House of Matriarch's latest fragrance release Kazimi has drawn applause from fragrance critics and connoisseurs.  With seven varieties of natural rose from around the world, nothing else can compare.

"The best rose perfume I've ever smelled!"  Peter Carter- Fragrance View
"an astonishingly beautiful rose fragrance, in fact, it's the most gorgeous rose perfume I have ever had the absolute pleasure of smelling. Rose was always one of my toughest notes to fall in love with, not because I felt it was flowery or feminine, I just wasn't fond of the smelI. I find Kazimi to be the most masculine rose fragrance I have ever smelled, a women can pull this off without question, but this has a definite masculine edge to it." Joseph Sagona - The Scented Apprentice
"Kazimi has connected the best on an emotional level with me as this kind of rose is what I prefer to wear."  Mark Behnke - Colognoisseur
Just as a rose bush can live for hundreds of years, producing more fragrant and beautiful roses with each passing year, this perfume will continue to beautify with the passage of time.

We are delighted to read such a stunning review from Fragrantica

Scented Snippets New Fragrances Review: House of Matriarch High Perfumery / New At Nordstrom's, The First Natural Perfumery in Nationwide Distribution
"Christi Meshell, nose and creator of House of Matriarch High Perfumery – has achieved a real First. Through incessant hard work, determination [not to mention great skill], and the extremely capable hands of Tim Girvin, she recently launched her line at Nordstrom in Seattle: the first luxury line of natural perfumery to be distributed nationwide. This is no small feat, as you can well imagine."
House of Matriarch's Creatrix, Christi Meshell at Nordstrom
"Some degree of cross-pollination is present, as newer compositions sit side by side amongst older favorites. Coco Blanc has quite a following it's probably one of the very few coconut-redolent fragrances which isn't a cloymonster and is an utter joy to wear. Blackbird reappears as Black No. 1, an edgy cult favorite; Sex Magic and Devotion hail from the Achtung line; Forbidden is a fantasy creature from Christi's earlier work.
Albatross, Madrona, Orca and Trillium are new and unique to the Nordstrom launch."

Launching FITNESSENCE at the Emerald Cup

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Matriarch Blog

Last week we launched the first fitness-optimizing fragrance, FITNESSENCE at the Emerald Cup Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition in Bellevue Washington.  Lots of people were attracted to our booth, all with a fabulous, upbeat energy about them. Both men and women resonated with the ancient technology that we presented, and everyone loved the smell.  Many people felt the effects immediately, and some circled back for more. It was so well received that at the end of the expo we only had one full size bottle plus an almost empty tester remaining!

We were thoroughly impressed at the quality of people that were attracted to what we were doing. Attendees and contestants alike were knowledgeable and understood the aroma chemistry that make FITNESSENCE the next x-factor to your workout.

Inspirational, Rosie is 72 and one of the most senior competitors at the Emerald Cup.
We can't wait to read her new book, go Rosie!

To top it all off, it was such an inspiration to be around a room full of people from all ages who are in great shape. Everyone was there with their own inner ideal of perfection, but with the understanding that absolute perfection is unattainable, and proud that they have worked hard and done their best. It truly takes so much going into a competition like this knowing that there is only one top winner, yet many competitors do it for the sport of it. Even more motivating is that while they are competing, they are also supporting each other.

A competition like this gives off a whole different level of energy. It is real. This is the sort of thing House of Matriarch likes to be a part of. Emerald Cup competitors bring true effort and value into what they do, much like what we believe in putting into each of our fragrances.

Gloria Mohninger, one of our first official FITNESSENCE full bottle customers,
is amazing at 49 years young.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Elaine and Brad from Craig Productions for inviting us into their world. A fitness-optimizing fragrance is a totally new concept and they were completely open to letting us join the show. We were proud to be one of the only local companies representing a product on the floor.

If you couldn't make it to the Emerald Cup Bodybuilding and Fitness Expo, FITNESSENCE is now available for purchase! It's efficacy is backed by scientific studies, it smells amazing and you will feel it working! Gender neutral: refreshing; slightly spicy and earthy, yet cooling with a woody, amberesque finish.

BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY PERFUME - NEW Liquid Music Track

Posted on April 23, 2015 by Matriarch Blog

Have you ever wondered what Richard Ashcroft was walking towards in The Verve's famous music video for their hit "Bittersweet Symphony"? We believe he was headed for a chocolate shop: what else could explain such a singular focus?
Our latest Liquid Music track embodies the broody and melancholic overtones of that epic urban hymn with an unexpected, bitter opening of henna, dong-quai and spikenard.  As the lyrics scream "I can change" so does the perfume, from bitter to sweet, breaking out of the mold of today's cloying mainstream chocolate themed fragrances.

A chorus of blended teas, bittersweet Dutch process cocoa and alluring spices invite the sharp tones to linger, and they lend a very special magic to the bitter chocolate accord.  Bourbonesque charred woods, hints of warm amber and a touch of oud create a velvety, harmonic drydown that takes a full five hours to develop on the skin and lasts overnight.

Created as a bespoke gift for one who cherishes this song, it develops in such an extraordinary way, we decided to offer it as part of our ongoing retail Liquid Music collection. Bittersweet Symphony is available in a 3ml Sample Size,
a 30ml Decant eau de parfum, and a 100ml Disco Ball Decant eau de parfum (shown above).
