PUT YOUR SMELL TO THE TEST: Test for Perfume Enthusiasts Helps Identify Olfactory Blind Spots

Posted on March 09, 2017 by Matriarch Blog

More than 30% of women and nearly 40% of men have SPECIFIC ANOSMIA - olfactory blind spots which impact their evaluation of fragrances.

Now you can put your olfactory sense to the test to discover what you may be missing with the first of it's kind PERFUME SPECIFIC ANOSMIA TEST PANEL compiled by our Perfumer Christi Meshell.  The panel tests your detection of eight common anosmic materials commonly found in fine fragrances that could be affecting your perfume evaluations and creations. Most are base notes, all are cruelty free and the kit employs both natural and synthetic materials.

Perfume Specific Anosmia Panel by House of Matriarch

Once you learn your results, the remainder of your sample can be used to train your nose to more effectively detect the odors you had difficulty smelling - or perhaps couldn't smell at all.  There have been amazing clinical successes in decreasing 'thresholds of detection' in both men and women who have used this method to increase their sensitivity to aromas that were previously a challenge to detect.

For those who take smelling seriously, this panel is a must!  Brand owners, creative directors and fragrance critics can now be sure they are among the 60% who can "smell it all" before they begin impressing their ideas and creations onto the rest of the smelling world!

The economically priced kit includes an email consultation with Christi regarding your results after your test is complete.  Score perfect results and you will receive a "Perfect Nose" certificate which you can proudly share on your website or blog.

*DISCLAIMER: This panel is for fun, education and self discovery - results do not constitute a medical diagnosis, nor is there a guarantee that improvement in olfaction will result from studying with this kit. All results are being kept confidential.

BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY PERFUME - NEW Liquid Music Track

Posted on April 23, 2015 by Matriarch Blog

Have you ever wondered what Richard Ashcroft was walking towards in The Verve's famous music video for their hit "Bittersweet Symphony"? We believe he was headed for a chocolate shop: what else could explain such a singular focus?
Our latest Liquid Music track embodies the broody and melancholic overtones of that epic urban hymn with an unexpected, bitter opening of henna, dong-quai and spikenard.  As the lyrics scream "I can change" so does the perfume, from bitter to sweet, breaking out of the mold of today's cloying mainstream chocolate themed fragrances.

A chorus of blended teas, bittersweet Dutch process cocoa and alluring spices invite the sharp tones to linger, and they lend a very special magic to the bitter chocolate accord.  Bourbonesque charred woods, hints of warm amber and a touch of oud create a velvety, harmonic drydown that takes a full five hours to develop on the skin and lasts overnight.

Created as a bespoke gift for one who cherishes this song, it develops in such an extraordinary way, we decided to offer it as part of our ongoing retail Liquid Music collection. Bittersweet Symphony is available in a 3ml Sample Size,
a 30ml Decant eau de parfum, and a 100ml Disco Ball Decant eau de parfum (shown above).

"Oh my stars, daft love behind the curtain!" House of Matriarch throws down three new fragrance tracks

Posted on January 01, 2015 by Matriarch Blog

1/1/15
House of Matriarch "Nose" Christi Meshell has just released a DISCO EDITION trio of perfumes for Carlos Powell's Peace, Love & Perfume Project.  Ever inspired by song in her fragrance designs, this project allowed Christi to go "all the way" with her craft of blending liquid music.  Numerous members of the Peace, Love & Perfume community (700+members) "listened in" during the early stages and contributed their submissions for how they imagined the three songs would "smell".
The perfumes are handcrafted from the highest quality essences from around the world, and contain over 70% organic materials.  There are no fragrance oils or pre-mixed bases.  Each perfume stands alone, yet the collection was designed to allow for blending any two or even all three. What fun!
