As Texan by birth, but a Washingtonian by choice, I am prone to annual case of the Seattle Blues.  As the festivities of the holiday season fade, the sobering grey skies bring visions of Maui and Cabo to my head.  Statistics say that about 20% of people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, but in my region, it is more like half; and they are almost all women.  I won't go into all of the dreary symptoms here, but you can take this quiz to see if you may be suffering from this seasonal disorder:   CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE QUIZ

Imagine my delight when the Natural Perfumers Guild decided to bring awareness about this condition along with prizes for SAD sufferers around the world with the Joy in January event: a three day blogathon with a dozen cheerful, fragrant prizes each day for our readers!

As a perfumer, I have found relief from the winter doldrums in my atelier.  As the effervescent molecules rush their healing impulses to my prefrontal cortex, I am transported to far-off lands. Wafts of tropical flowers and sunny citruses melt the blues away in a clever act of trickery on my subconscious, which cannot distinguish reality from my imagined travels.  Though the magic of the essences, I am THERE, IN THE SUN!  I believe this is why aromatherapy provides such excellent relief from many of the symptoms of SAD.

That is why we are giving away Destiny: our top selling perfume since it's release in May, 2010.  I designed it for exhibition at the 2010 NW Women's Show, to bring attention to the uplifting benefits of natural perfumes.  Chock full of natural aromatics known to combat SAD, it smells absolutely divine!

If you would like to try "Destiny", please leave a comment here!  I'll be giving away three travel sizes in Italian made gilded bottles for each of the next three days.  Winners of the random drawing will be announced right here on the blog so check back please to claim your prize!

Thanks for reading, and please check out the other Guild blogs for more on this event and other chances to win aroma therapeutic perfumes from the Natural Perfumers Guild.
